Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore

Albus Dumbledore was never proud or vain; he could find something to value in anyone, however apparently insignificant or wretched, and I believe that his early losses endowed him with great humanity and sympathy....working always for the greater good, and to his last hour, as willing to stretch out a hand to a small boy with dragon pox as he was on the day that I met him.

Looking forward to an evening of new company, though considering the construction of potions is involved, I feel I ought to be at least slightly concerned for my own well-being (and his).

I am...rather distressed, and if you're able, I'd like to discuss my future (subsequently your past) with you either over these journals or--if you prefer--in person, as I'm less inclined to believe that you will attempt to break my nose as others on this ship might.

I thought that this was rather common knowledge, but it seems that it begs to be repeated. A wizard or witch should always use his or her wand. Wandless magic is unstable magic, it needs to be filtered and channeled through instrument and spell. Otherwise it runs the risk of doing that which the caster did not intend. I have seen this more than once, first hand. My mother.

Wands are an important, crucial part of magic. There is a reason that the right wand is drawn to you. There is a reason. Goodness me.

As far back as I can remember, I have never been content to see events as unconnected and inexplicable. I have always craved an understanding of the underlying order in the world. I've always desperately sought not only my own purpose, but the purpose for everything. Everything, every country or school, every group and every person is but the sum of its parts.

I suppose that's why I've always been so fond of making things into other things.

Does anyone know where I might be able to obtain a copy of the book The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore by Rita Skeeter, by any chance? I'd be much obliged.

[Warded Against all but Gellert Grindelwald]

I cannot for the life of me decipher the circumstances that would demand a sixteen-year-old boy witness my death. Yet I feel that these events are more important than any. I do suppose that my life, though remain at Hogwarts I do, is not quite as stagnant as I feared it would become.

The more I learn the more I worry about what a change would upset and that distresses me. I should think that we might be able to stop all of this from unfolding. Stop all the death that you see as necessity It would change everything. It might stop some here from ever being born just as it might also stop them from ever having to die.

But should it really be to me to decide the fates of others? To you, Gellert?

The further into the future I see, the more the past becomes brighter. Even the dustiest corners of it.

I love you.

I'm not particularly found of bagpipes. I find them intrusive.

My brother always rather enjoyed them, however.

To whomever reads

Today I have found out that I am at Hogwarts school, as the Headmaster, by 1996. This piece of information was rather unexpected and I'm not entirely sure that I cared to hear it, not because I doubt the person's truthfulness, nor do I harbour any ill feelings towards being told, I simply feel that a person learning their future is a dangerous thing and should not be treated lightly.

I do not mean to discourage anyone who knows me years from where I stand to approach me, but I beg that they please do not do so just to divulge trivia about my future--as far as I'm concerned, it really isn't any of my business.

I'm not entirely sure that I know how this works. It's certainly magic that I've never encountered before, so I do hope that I'm doing everything properly. I can honestly say that I've never been on a ship of this magnitude before, and I hope that I may return to my proper place in time for the end of term examinations or Headmaster Dippet might become incredibly apprehensive.
